Instruction Manual for EPD Owners

This guide provides instructions to EPD Owners on how to troubleshoot LCA data files which are triggering errors when uploaded to the EPD Portal.

General information

If your LCA results Excel file was rejected by the validator, identify possible errors by following these instructions. Machine-readable EPD data must be entered in the correct format for external software to process it. Even small mistakes can make the file unreadable.

Interpretation of the error message

When you upload the Excel file, the validator will display a feedback message describing any errors. Read it carefully to understand what needs to be corrected. You can also use the checklist below to fix the issues.

Troubleshooting checklist

1. Use the latest LCA Excel template — available at www.environdec.com or through this link.
2. Ensure all mandatory fields are filled:
   • All required indicators must be declared for every declared module.
   • All declared modules must include all mandatory (or selected optional) indicators.
3. For undeclared modules, fill all boxes with “ND”.
4. Use “0” only when the calculated LCA result is actually zero.
5. Use a period (“.”) as the decimal separator.
6. Ensure cells contain only numbers, 0, or “ND” — no letters or extra spaces.
7. Include only one set of LCA results in the file.
