The EPD Compiler guides users through a streamlined process consisting of 6 steps to create, verify, and publish an EPD. Each step has specific tabs and sections designed to ensure accuracy and completeness in the EPD documentation.

Step 1 – General Information
In this initial step, users will gather foundational data related to their product and organisation. This includes:

  • Company information and contact details
  • Details about the product or service the EPD covers
  • The product category (PCR) and relevant standards or regulations
  • Type of verification required
  • Inviting verifiers and LCA practitioners

Step 2 – Product Declaration
This step focuses on entering specific details about the product being assessed, such as:

  • Production location and processes
  • Product descriptions, specifications, and intended uses
  • Any packaging or associated materials
  • Data on product lifespan and maintenance
  • Connections to supply chains, including raw materials and suppliers

Step 3 – LCA Information

This section focuses on collecting lifecycle data for the product, including:

  • Energy and material inputs
  • Emissions generated throughout the lifecycle
  • Waste produced and disposed of
  • Transportation and distribution impacts

Step 4 –  EPD Verification
Once the data collection is complete, this step ensures the EPD undergoes thorough verification. This process must be conducted by an approved verifier or accredited certification body.

Note: If you are looking for a verifier for this process, kindly find them in the lists of approved verifiers and accredited certification bodies.

Step 5 –  EPD Publication
After successful verification, the EPD will be published in a fully digitalised format in the EPD Library along with all necessary documentation. During the publication process, the EPD Compiler automatically converts your EPD into the ILCD+EPD format for publication on the ECO Platform.

Step 6 –  Generated EPD
Once the publication is complete, users can download the final EPD document in PDF format. It is also possible to obtain the QR code that is linked to the EPD in the EPD Library on the website.
